All our calendered/downproof fabrics will have matte and shiny sides as a product of the calendering process. It is recommended that you put the shiny side towards the insulation (down, Primaloft, etc) and the matte/dull side facing out.

Can you elaborate why it is recommended to have the shiny side facing the insulation? Besides appearance, is there some material property that differentiates the two sides?
to my understanding, the calendered side has a more closed weave do to the heat application slightly fusing the fibers together while pressing on them. I imagine this recommendation is to help prevent insulation from coming through the fabric
